Welcome to the Centre for Alternative Testing and In-vitro Monitoring.
The Business Technology Centre for Alternative Testing and In-Vitro Monitoring (CATIM) is a project part funded by the European Regional Development Fund dedicated to the advancement of alternative testing methods. The Centre specialises in technologies which detect and monitor changes in cell systems, critical for the development and evaluation of many new products, from chemicals to medical implants. One particular area of activity is the development of technology to reduce and replace animal testing. Businesses from many sectors – from biomedical and agri-food to advanced engineering – may benefit from access to the Centre’s sophisticated resources and technical support; for example, with designing a test programme, developing skills in testing, or new product development. It will provide new technologies, testing facilities and expertise which is accessible to business.
It is a consortium led by the Institute of Bio-Sensing Technology, University of the West of England, and including the European Collection of Cell Cultures, the NHS, the University of Bristol and the Humane Society International.
